--------------------------------------------------------------- The Hill and Valley Gourmet Coffee Newsletter --------------------------------------------------------------- Volume 2 Issue 7, December 2001 This month -:A short one! :Fullest ever range of coffees :Holidays at Hill & Valley Coffee :Rancilio Silvia and Rocky :Coffee Rituals :Cup Of Care :Happy Christmas! --------------------------------------------------------------- Just a short missive this time - well you don't have time to read the full 5 A4 pages at this time of the year, do you? --------------------------------------------------------------- Fullest ever range of coffees --------------------------------------------------------------- Having found some extra warehousing space we are now carrying our fullest ever range of speciality coffees. Back in stock are the hot favourites - Kenya AA; Guatemala Genuine Antigua Capetillo 2001; Celebes Old Brown Kalosi. We've also decided on our second anniversary blend (yes we've made it into year three!) "Three Islands Blend" forms our tribute to the arabica coffees of Indonesia and this years offering combines the best from the archipelago to produce a dark roast of great depth and smoothness. If your day permits you just one coffee moment - we think this blend will launch you into caffeinated ecstasy! --------------------------------------------------------------- Holidays at Hill & Valley Coffee --------------------------------------------------------------- Although we are open for business at "The Coffee Tree" until 16.30 on Saturday 22nd December, we will not be roasting coffee from Wednesday 19th December 2001 to Monday 7th January 2002 inclusive. The Coffee Tree will be closed from the 22nd Dec until 8 am on Monday 7th January 2002. Orders received until 12 noon on Tuesday 18th December will be shipped to arrive latest 24th December (we hope to make all shipments by Thursday 20th latest). Any orders received during the holiday period will be processed on 8th and 9th January and will be shipped by the 11th January. We are not offering the gift packs which we offered in 2001 and logistical problems at one or two local suppliers have prevented us putting together the "Taste of Aylesbury" mini hamper which we had hoped to produce. We will be doing this next year. However, we still feel that our coffees provide excellent holiday gifts and will endeavour to fulfill any special shipping, wrapping or message requests that you may have. --------------------------------------------------------------- Rancilio Silvia and Rocky --------------------------------------------------------------- We are receiving a considerable amount of favourable reaction from customers who have bought these machines from us and are now holding stocks at The Coffee Tree in order to satisfy personal callers. The combination of the two machines has become all the more popular since Rancilio (finally!) have decided to produce a matching stainless steel version of the Rocky. We have heard nothing to shake us from the view that the combo provides the best solution to producing high quality espresso based drinks at home. --------------------------------------------------------------- Coffee Rituals --------------------------------------------------------------- We've received several of your e-mails on this and they have produced a combination of reactions from total admiration for your committment to your coffee habit, to deep green envy of the idyllic surroundings that some of you have found in which to perform your ritual. Keep them coming, please! We will publish a digest in the first newsletter of 2002. --------------------------------------------------------------- Cup Of Care --------------------------------------------------------------- We have to admit to being a little disappointed over the last year with the amount we have been able to raise for the Colombian Street Orphans charity, Fe y Alegria through our sales of Colombian Coffee, and we will be re-thinking our approach to this next year. Over the first 8 months or so at The Coffee Tree, we have kept a tips jar - differing ideas of worthy causes amongst the people here obliged us to draw lots for where the first, second and third tranches of our customers goodwill will be going. I am delighted to report that Fe y Alegria won the gold and silver medals and thus will be receiving our first 150 pounds of tips as well as the relatively modest amount raised through the Cup of Care scheme. --------------------------------------------------------------- Happy Christmas! --------------------------------------------------------------- Finally we would like to wish all our customers, readers and friends a Happy and Peaceful Christmas and a Prosperous, Happy and Healthy 2002.
